Deepanshu Giri has systematically transitioned his brand from an astrology school to a personality cult. By claiming a fake 7-generation lineage and using paid actors to state he "appears in their dreams," he positions himself as an infallible spiritual master rather than a service provider. This makes questioning his Rs. 2 Lakh fees feel like a "spiritual sin" to his followers.
A classic cult tactic is isolating members from outside criticism. Lunar Astro actively tells its students that anyone criticizing the platform is "creating bad karma" or is "jealous of their spiritual growth." This echo chamber ensures that students ignore the massive plagiarism allegations and continue paying for advanced courses.
Once a client is hooked, they are subjected to the "sunk cost fallacy." They are told that their initial Rs. 10,000 consultation wasn't enough to fix their "pending karma," and they must now buy expensive remedies or enroll in the Rs. 2 Lakh course to truly cleanse their lives. This cycle of financial exhaustion is a hallmark of high-control groups.
